How to get a job with no work experience
Very often, after finishing their studies, young people find themselves in difficulty when trying to access the world of work.
Strengthened by a degree, they enter the world of work hoping that the years spent on books are worth a decent job.
Unfortunately, competition is fierce. Having spent many years studying, it was not possible to accumulate the work experiences required by employers.
Maybe even you who are reading this post are looking for work and you are experiencing moments of frustration.
The job offers are few and previous experience is always required.
In job advertisements, you always see exorbitant requests.
Despite the skills acquired with the degree programs, it seems to you that you do not have the skills required for any job.
If you want to know how to get a job with no work experience keeps reading this post.
The purpose of this article is to help you find a job that ennobles your talent.
Look for the right job for you
In the beginning, you can also settle for an occupation that allows you to earn something.
In the long run, however, this solution is deleterious.
That’s why I decided to collect information on how to get a job with no work experience.
Imagine what your life would be like if your job didn’t bring out your talent.
If you can choose, it is important that you choose a job that ennobles you and that can motivate you.
I speak from experience, I worked for years in an assembly line factory.
That job made me feel bad because I felt I could do something more demanding.
Inside me, I always felt that it was not enough for me.
There are those who are satisfied and those who are perfect for those types of work, personally, after a few months, everything became boring and automatic. I did the movements by heart, without thinking.
I don’t think anyone who has studied for so long aspires to this.
For example, if you studied engineering, I don’t think your ambition could be to prepare Hot Dogs.
It is not said that your job must necessarily be in the field you have studied.
For example, I studied Electrical Engineering and worked as an accountant for a multinational company.
Although I didn’t have the necessary knowledge for that job, I learned the basics to get that job, then I learned what I needed while I was working.
First impression: The Curriculum Vitae
When you look out onto the world of work, your business card is your Curriculum Vitae.
Usually, the Curriculum should contain the most relevant information about you. A recent photograph of yours is not mandatory, but it is usually recommended to insert it.
In addition to personal data, it is important that it contains correct and updated contact information so that the recruiter can easily contact you.
As you write it, it is important that you put yourself in the shoes of those who see dozens of Curriculum every day.
What could end your CV at the top of the candidate list?
I advise you, first of all, to adapt your CV to the job offer for which you are applying.
You will agree with me if I tell you that your CV will have to highlight different aspects if you want to work in a bank or if you want to work in a restaurant instead.
Use the keywords used by recruiters to describe the job.
If your work experience is not relevant to the job you are applying for, reserve a minimum space for it.
Instead, focus on the features that make you an excellent candidate for that profession.
You don’t have to lie, otherwise, the recruiters would immediately notice the inconsistencies at the job interview.
For example, if you are applying for a salesman position, you may highlight (real) experiences made at an amateur level, but in which you have had great success.
Don’t dwell too much on your studies, indicating your qualification, and talking about any particular merits is enough.
Before sending your CV, check (even more than once) that there are no typos. It is also a good idea to have some friends read it for external advice and possibly improve it.
Unmissable skills to impress recruiters
It seems obvious, but many ignore this aspect. Having the right mindset and the right attitude makes you an ideal candidate for any job you want to get.
If you are someone who never gives up, highlights this characteristic of yours.
The most requested features are usually the following:
It is not about being a leader for colleagues, but about being a person with a spirit of initiative.
If in front of a problem, you do not stop, and you immediately activate to find a solution, you will be a very valid candidate.
A person who solves problems with ease is an important pawn in any organization.
If you keep your motivation high even in the most complicated situations.
Who is able to correctly manage the priorities in order to complete their tasks efficiently.
It is important to keep in mind what your goal is and to put into practice all the actions necessary to achieve your goal.
We all know that work can generate stress. A person with a strong personality will be more inclined to jobs where it is necessary to keep stress under control.
Your skills play a fundamental role in how to get a job with no work experience, indeed you can’t get experience without a job. You can always learn new skills instead, and it is always an advantage.
To complete your psychological picture, it is important that you provide recruiters with a series of information that has value in the workplace but is not necessarily related to the job itself.
If you have played team sports, for example, you can refer to the fact that you have been the captain of a football team and have won several trophies in your category (Leadership).
Information such as: “I like cats” does not provide recruiters with useful information. On the contrary, they only waste time and steal space for more important information.
Prepare for the job interview
Last but not the least step on how to get a job with no work experience: the job interview.
There are some questions that recruiters always ask at job interviews.
Here are the most frequent:
- What are your strengths?
- What are your flaws?
- Why do you think you are the ideal candidate for this job?
- What are your career aspirations within 3-5 years?
If this information is present in your CV, recruiters are likely to ask more questions. Try to have the answer ready.
To avoid embarrassing silences, I recommend you read the Job Description in depth. This way you can prepare the answers to the technical questions they might ask you.
Usually, recruiters will ask you if you have questions, don’t take anything for granted, and if something isn’t clear to you, ask.
It is also important that you do not ask questions about the salary, it is usually a sensitive topic, and if you don’t like it, you can always refuse the offer or negotiate.
Depending on the type of work for which you have applied, it is advisable that you choose the right clothing.
I advise you to dress Casual or Elegant, but in any case in a manner consistent with the type of work in question.
Punctuality is also important. It is better to be in the established place 10 minutes in advance and wait rather than arriving late.
If you have followed all the advice I have given you, you will have a curriculum that will certainly stand out from the crowd in the eyes of the recruiters.
In addition to what explained above, even if there are CV templates, I recommend you to customize your CV. This, too, could highlight, without words, some of your qualities.
I advise you above all to pay attention to the colors you will use because each one has a meaning.
For example, red represents leadership, green is the alternative, blue is synonymous with professionalism.
Too bright colors are not recommended, it is better to use pastel shades.
